Srinagar, Jun 21 (KNO): Kashmir’s chief cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Friday advocated dialogue for the resolution of issues stating that no issue can be resolved through force. Addressing the Friday gathering at historic Jamia Masjid here, Mirwaiz, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that all issues can be resolved through dialogue and force was no alternative. “It was the Shaheed-e-Milat Mirwaiz Muhammad Farooq who announced in 1964 that Kashmiri people were the primary representatives of the issue. Today, the world is admitting this…,” Mirwaiz said. He said that they believe in co-existence, peace, brotherhood and army. “We want resolution of issues through dialogue. Yesterday, the US also stated that dialogue should be held…,” Mirwaiz said. His statement comes at a time when Prime Minister Narendera Modi was in Srinagar on a two-day visit. The chief cleric said that for the sixth consecutive year, Eid prayers were disallowed at Jamia Masjid and also at Eidgah Srinagar. This approach of the administration, Mirwaiz said, is highly condemnable. “I wonder why Jamia Masjid is being targeted on Shab-e-Qadr, Jumatul Vida and other special occasions”, he said—(KNO)
